LAKE CITY, FL – Jeremy Smith Racing (JSR) is taking on Florida.
The Whitney Point, N.Y.-based operation ventures to Lake City, Fla.’s All-Tech Raceway with not one, not two, or even three cars. JSR will take on ‘sun, fun and speed’ with a fleet of four race cars as the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco makes its inaugural visit to the half-mile clay oval.
STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman take on the Sunshine State with an open practice on Wednesday (Feb. 5) and three consecutive nights of racing Thursday-Saturday (Feb. 6-8).
The JSR operation will be anchored by 2018 STSS Halmar International North Region champion Billy Decker of Sidney, N.Y. Decker, who owns 300 career victories, has a trio of wins in the state of Florida, conquering Volusia Speedway Park on three occasions, including last February. Decker will be aboard a JSR-fielded Bicknell sporting his No. 91.
Team owner Jeremy Smith has a Short Track Super Series Modified victory of his own. The Triangle, N.Y., native took the Sunoco checkered flag first at Afton (N.Y.) Motorsports Park on July 26, 2018. Now, Smith and his No. 46 take aim at a piece of history in the Sunshine State.
Jeremy’s son, Binghamton, N.Y.’s Darren Smith, has graduated into the Modified division with limited-but-impressive starts mainly in the Southern Tier region of New York State. Darren, aboard the No. 12, will add to his racing resume in the Modified ranks at All-Tech.
Joining the trio of Modified entries is a Crate 602 Sportsman No. 28 driven by Binghamton, N.Y.’s Matt Meade, on the heels of a championship in the Rookie Sportsman division at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y.
