CANCELLED: 29th Annual Powell Family Memorial

CANCELLED: 29th Annual Powell Family Memorial

Attention Racing Community,

Due to the unforeseen devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in both our local communities and other parts of the Southeast, we regretfully announce the cancellation of the 29th Annual Powell Family Memorial. All-Tech Raceway promoter Wendell Durrance said this was one of the hardest decisions he’s had to make at the racetrack, but was one that needed to be made out of respect and concern for the community. “We’ve talked to some of our biggest supporters, fans and James Powell. We feel like it’s best to cancel the event,” Durrance said. “We looked at the only other available date for the Powell, and it just doesn’t line up well with what other tracks and series have scheduled.” James Powell agreed with Durrance in that now is not an appropriate time to race. “We just don’t feel we need to be in a festive atmosphere right now with so many who have lost everything,” Powell said. “Our focus now is helping those in need anyway we can, we hope everyone understands and supports this decision.” Adam Stewart with Crate Racin’ USA has offered his full support on this decision and is looking forward to next year’s running of the event.

If you feel the need to donate supplies and non-perishable goods, we ask that you please find a local church or charity to drop those off to. The 30th Annual Powell Family Memorial will make its return at All-Tech Raceway on October 18-19, 2025.

Our next event will be November 1-2, as the All Star Monster Truck Tour invades All-Tech Raceway. Racing will resume on November 16, as we wrap up the points season and crown our 2024 champions. The Tim Grubaugh Sr. Sprint Car Showdown, co-sanctioned by Hurricane Area Super Sprints and Top Gun Sprints, will take place on December 5-7. This winged sprint car race will pay $3,500 to win and $350 to start. Also racing on December 5-7 is the Inaugural Alligator Town Showdown for sport compacts, paying $10,000 to win and $1,000 to start, along with other contingency prizes up for grabs.

Stay tuned to our social media and website for further updates, and most importantly thank you for understanding our decisions. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those whose lives were affected by the storm. We look forward to seeing you at the track soon.
